Key Updates
1. Enhanced Pirate Events
- Dynamic Survivor Loss:
- Players can now lose up to two survivors during pirate attacks based on their decision to comply or refuse.
- Survivors are lost with a calculated chance:
- First Attack: 50% chance of losing one survivor.
- Second Attack: 50% chance for each of up to two survivors to be lost.
- Refusal feedback has been enhanced to display whether survivors were lost or if the player narrowly escaped losses.
- Resource Demands:
- First Attack: Pirates demand 75% of the player’s most abundant resource.
- Second Attack: Pirates demand 100% of the same resource, escalating the tension.
- Improved Messaging:
- Players are informed of what happens during the event (e.g., "Lost 1 survivor" or "Pirates left without harm"). This makes the stakes and outcomes of decisions clear.
2. Survivor Management
- Survivors lost during events dynamically update gameplay:
- Labour Points: Automatically recalculated based on the remaining survivor count.
- Game Continuity: Survivor loss is gracefully handled to avoid crashes, ensuring the game functions even when survivors reach zero.
3. Bug Fixes
- Fixed issues where the game would not properly handle events when resources were insufficient or when the survivor count was low.
- Addressed edge cases where second pirate attacks triggered prematurely or incorrectly escalated resource demands.
4. Developer Quality of Life
- Added logging for key in-game events:
- Survivor loss messages provide better insights for debugging and balancing.
- Feedback messages ensure players are informed of the outcomes of their choices.
How to Test the New Features
- Trigger Pirate Events:
- Surpass 25 phases and ensure resource levels are above 100 to increase the likelihood of pirate events.
- Refuse their demands to test survivor loss chances for both the first and second attacks.
- Edge Case Testing:
- Attempt pirate events with only one survivor and/or minimal resources to confirm the game handles such conditions gracefully.
- General Gameplay:
- Play through a standard session to ensure game balance and pacing remain enjoyable with the new features.
Coming Next
- More Dynamic Events: Expand the event system to include diverse scenarios, such as ally rescue missions or resource windfalls.
- Polish and UI Updates: Enhance visual feedback for events and resource changes.

Extra Note: forgot to mention in the main update - added a new action "reinforce" activated with R key. This takes 35 units of oil & scrap and gives 50% of maintenance bar back and decreases maintenance bar degradation to 0.3 with cooldown of 5 minutes
